A team of exceptional athletes, many of whom are injured Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, departed from the Golden Gate Bridge on World T.E.A.M. Sports' longest bike trek across America - Sea to Shining Sea. The mission of the ride is to honor the courage of our service men and women, the strength of the American spirit, and challenge perceptions of how we view athletes.

Spanning 63 days and 4,000 miles, the team of veteran riders will cycle through deserts, mountain passes and historical landmarks in an effort to cross our great country and shatter perceptions of how we view athletes. Riders will visit military bases, interact with veterans and civilians and spread hope for a fully-inclusive society. These courageous service men and women hope to these courageous service men and women hope to demonstrate by example and inspire all people, disabled or not, to live active and enriched lives.

These veterans will be cycling from DC to Fredericksburg today. A group from the Fredericksburg Cyclists Club will be riding with them from the Stafford Courthouse to Market Square downtown for a ceremony at 3:30 PM. Please join us to honor these veterans on the last part of their journey from San Francisco!

We will meet at the VFW near the Falmouth Bridge at noon, ride to the courtouse and then ride back into Fredericsburg with them. Please contact Dave Jones or Beth Gentry if you are interested.
