16, 29, 43, 60 and 100 mile options

 

Cycle through the scenic Potomac Heritage area of Southern Maryland.

  • Relax at a rest stop at the Mattawoman Creek Art Center in Smallwood State Park.
  • Watch for bald eagles and blue herons as you pedal through hundreds of acres of gently rolling forested hills and tidal bottomlands to the panoramic vista of the Potomac River at Riverside.
  • Enjoy a rest stop high above the Port Tobacco River with a spectacular view of the Potomac and Port Tobacco rivers.
  • Discover history at the Thomas Stone Historic Site

Experience nature on the Indian Head Rail Trail 

REGISTRATION FEE  INCLUDES

  • Cue sheet and map
  • Route marking

  * Rest stop  #1 at Mattawoman Creek Art Center

8:00 am to 11:30 am

  * Rest stop  #2 at Riverside

9:30 am to 1:00 pm

  * Rest stop  #3 at St. Ignatius / Chapel Point

10:00 am to 3:00 pm

  * Rest stop  #4 at Thomas Stone Historic House

10:00 am to 3:30 pm

  * After-ride picnic on the Indian Head Village Green

11:00 am to 5:00 pm


DIRECTIONS TO INDIAN HEAD VILLAGE GREEN

FROM THE NORTH: From the Capital Beltway, I-95, take exit 3A, Md 210 (Indian Head Highway) south. Go 20 miles to the town of Indian Head. The Village Green is on the right just before the security gate for the Indian Head Navy Base at the end of the highway

FROM THE EAST: From US 301 in La Plata, take Md 225 (Laplata Road) west toward Indian Head. At 11 miles, Md 225 ends at Md 210 (Indian Head Highway). Take a left and go 1 mile into the town of Indian Head. The Village Green is on the right just before the security gate for the Indian Head Navy Base at the end of the highway.
