"No Pancake" Gravel and Road Ride
There will be both mixed-surface gravel options and standard road route options out of Mary Walters Elementary School.
For those that are interested in a new experience – gravel! The 51 mile route has approx. 18 miles of light gravel and the 38 mile route has approx. 14.5 miles of light gravel. The gravel sections are marked in blue.
For those new to gravel, please be aware:
1. Due to the amount of paved roads, a hybrid, cross or road bike with appropriate tires is recommended.
2. You can do this ride safely on normal 25c road tires, larger tires - 28c and above - are recommended.
3. Most gravel roads have few cars but use caution because the roads are narrower and cyclists are not expected.
The terrain is moderately rolling. Distance options are 24, 39, 49 for the normal road routes and 38 and 51 miles for the road/gravel routes.
This week, Clay will be leading the 38-mile gravel route but all are welcome to ride the other routes.
Directions: Start location - Mary Walter Elementary School. From Falmouth Bridge (Rt. 1 and 17 intersection) take Rt. 17 North 18 miles to Rt. 835 on the left side of Rt. 17. Park in Mary Walter Elementary School Parking Lot.
Route Information: Routes of 24, 38 (gravel), 39, 49 and 51 (gravel) miles will be available.
NOTE: Please bring a cue sheet with you if you need one.
